Wild Monkshood- Southern Blue Monkshood (Aconitum uncinatum southern)

Wild Monkshood

Photographer:

Wild Monkshood is characterized by clusters of unusual, hooded flowers in royal purple and divided leaves that can be as long as 6". The stems can grow to 4' and benefit from some support. It is superb when its stems can trail or wind through Azaleas or Blueberries. It thrives in moist soil in full to partial shade. It is considered to be toxic.

Bloom time: Early August through through September
