Nodding Onion (Allium cernum)

Nodding Onion

Photographer: Dorothy S. Long

The Nodding Onion is an edible plant whose dense tufts of foliage taste like chives. Pink bell-shaped flowers hang gently from foot-high stalks.

They prefer fertile, moist, well-drained soil and full sun.

Bloom time: Early July through early August
