Northern Blazing Star (Liatris scariosa v. novae-angliae)
Northern Blazing Star

The Northern Blazing Star is the only Blazing Star that is native to New England. It sports purple spiky button blossoms on 4' stalks. You will find it in sand plain grasslands and often along the coastline.

It is very drought tolerant and adaptable to garden soil conditions as long as it gets full sun and good drainage.

Bloom time: Late July to early September
