Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea)
Purple Coneflower

Purple Coneflower is a showy, sun-loving native wildflower in the Aster family. Its flowers are rosy purple with daisy-like petals that are swept back around a large dark cone. The stalks grow to 2-3' and are covered with rough "teeth."

Purple Coneflowers are meadow and prairie flowers, preferring full sun and dry soil.

Used as a full-spectrum herbal immune system stimulant, Purple Coneflowers have been used as an herbal remedy for centuries.

Bloom time: Late July through August
