Virginia Bluebells

Photographer: Dorothy S. Long

Beginning life as reddish-purple, the buds of Virginia Bluebells become blue, bell-shaped flowers. The plant can grow to 2' tall and is lovely in naturalized settings. They tolerate most soil conditions but prefer sandy, peaty soil and significant shade.
