Come to Garden in the Woods for an evening of earthly delights, music at sunset, and tasty treats.  Best of all, you'll have first choice of thousands of plants and personalized advice from New England Wild Flower Society native plant experts like Bill Cullina (our Horticultural Research Director) and Ron Wik (our Nursery Business Director), for just the right amount of help.

Preview Silent Auction highlights

The New England Wild Flower Society's annual PLANT SALE EVENT at Garden in the Woods on Saturday, June 9, from 10 am-3 pm, features over 6,000 individual native plants with more than 600 varieties—the largest in our history—of nursery-propagated wildflowers, grasses, perennials, and woody plants.

This year we are going WILD with an exclusive ALL-NATIVE selection, including rare lady-slippers, trillium, columbine, Turk’s cap lilies, blazing stars, choice ferns, silverbell trees, and dozens of unusual shrub varieties.

  • Best native plant selection in the Northeast
  • Ecologically propagated and grown for you by experts
  • 600+ wildflower, fern, and woody varieties
  • Learn more about plants and gardening from the Society's staff
  • Used Book Sale with hundreds of garden, nature, children's and specialty books.

FREE SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE (9 am-3:30 pm)

Park at Hemenway School, 729 Water Street in Framingham, and take shuttle buses to and from the sale.

Let our staff take care of your selections in the special shaded holding area and take an hour to walk the spectacular Garden exhibit, “ART GOES WILD: Innovation with Native Plants” designed by artist and landscape designer W. Gary Smith, for thousands of ideas to inspire.

Note: There is no charge to enter the Plant Sale area, but regular fees apply for admission to the Garden trails. (Members, as always, walk the trails for free.)

The “75+ EASY-to-Grow Native Plants" list, featuring great plants from the ART GOES WILD exhibit and available at the Visitor Center, offers a perfect starting place for learning more about gardening with North American native plants.

Help Make the Sale a Success. Be a Plant Sale Volunteer!

There are still opportunities to volunteer for the PLANT SALE events.  Whether you are a cashier,  a plant mover, a plant expert, or anything in between, all talents are gratefully accepted. DONATING TO THE SALE

Donate books: ‘Weed out’ your extra books and help raise funds for the library at Garden in the Woods. Natural history or gardening titles are especially welcome, but we accept all varieties of books in good condition (except textbooks). Drop off books with the receptionist in the Administration Building between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. before Wednesday June 6, and remember to pick up a donor form for your tax deduction. (Please leave your name and address so we can thank you.)

Donate plants: Continue the tradition of “Gardeners to Gardeners!” Walk around your garden and think of what you would enjoy dividing and sharing with others Please dig and pot your selections as soon as the weather allows, so your plants will look their best by Plant Sale Day. Choice and unusual plants are especially sought after, but we value common varieties as well. For “Gardeners to Gardeners,” we accept both native and non-native plants. Label all plants with common name (plus Latin name, if you know it)! The new, beautiful and much sought after weeping form of Acer Japonica ' Green Cascade' is available to the highest bidder.
Acer Pennsylvanicum Erythrocladum —add four season interest to your garden with this unusual maple.  Its striped bark turns a glorious red in winter.
